Geocaching Challenge Information

General Information

We are so excited that you are participating in the 2025 Big Camp Geocaching Challenge! We hope you have a wonderful time with your family as you track the coordinates and discover the hidden geocaches.

Step 1:
Register your Family Team in this web app. Once registered, you’ll receive a link via SMS giving you access to your answer sheet.

Step 2:
Each day, new coordinates will be released showing where to find a hidden geocache. Inside each cache is a secret keyword—collect all 12 to unlock the final question!

This year's challenge is proudly sponsored by the Greater Sydney Conference Family Ministries Department and Men’s Ministries Department

There are two prizes up for grabs:

  • 🥇 $200 BCF Gift Voucher
  • 🥈 $100 BCF Gift Voucher

Even if you don't take out 1st or 2nd place, we hope you give it your best shot! There are random consolation prizes and giveaways.

Rules

There aren’t many rules, but there are a few things you do need to know to keep the adventure running smoothly:

🧑‍🤝‍🧒 Teams Only! This challenge is for teams—no solo explorers allowed! Each team must include at least one responsible adult and one child. Judges will verify your team with a team photo, so make sure you smile (or at least look like adventurers).

📦 Leave No Trace. Please do not move or remove any of the hidden geocaches. They're there for everyone to find. If you get stuck or can’t locate a cache, just contact the organiser for a hint.

⚖️ Judge’s Verdict is Final. Some answers will need to be marked by a judge. All verdicts are final and not up for discussion (even if you think you deserved a point for creativity).

🏅 Points & Prizes. Different challenges are worth different amounts of points. Some decrease in value over time, so get in quick! Prizes for the most points will be awarded at the close of camp—so get those points in!

🎉 Just Have Fun! This challenge is all about teamwork, exploration, and making awesome camp memories. Go explore, solve the puzzles, and enjoy the adventure!

Privacy Statement

Your privacy matters to us. Here’s how we’ll handle your data during the challenge:

🗑️ Data Deletion: All data—including your answers and any uploaded photos—will be permanently deleted within 7 days of the close of camp.

🏷️ Team Names: Your team name may be displayed publicly during and after the challenge.

📸 Team Photos: These will remain private unless your team wins. In that case, we’ll ask your permission before showing your photo at the end of camp or on the Conference website.

🙈 Names & Numbers: Individual names and phone numbers will never be made public or shared.

💸 No Selling, No Ads: We will never sell, trade, or monetise your data in any way. It's just for running the challenge!

Tips for Earning Maximum Points

Want to come out on top? Here are some handy hints to help you make the most of the Geocaching Challenge:

👨‍👩‍👧 Team Photo Matters: Make sure your team photo includes all team members. This helps us confirm who’s in each location photo.

📸 Take Great Location Photos: Points are awarded for photos taken at each geocache location. To earn maximum points, make sure your photo includes at least one adult and one child. Solo shots will receive fewer points. Photos will be verified against your team photo.

⏳ Act Fast: Some challenges decrease in point value over time, so the quicker you complete them, the better your score!

🎯 Difficulty = More Points: Some geocaches are harder to find and are worth more points. It pays to go the extra mile!

🧭 GPS App: It may be useful to have a GPS Coordinates App on your phone to help locate the geocaches. Make sure you switch the location format to "UTM".

✍️ Final Question: The last question is a text paragraph. Put effort into crafting a quality response as judges will award points based on accuracy and thoughtfulness.
